How big? There are more than 2,300 Relate counsellors working in over 100 centres throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The Northumberland and Tyneside centre aims to maintain 70 counsellors — all of whom undertake professional training.

How's it organised? Each Relate centre is an independent organisation registered as a charity in its own name. All the centres are affiliated to Relate National and abide by its standards.

The local scene: The Northumberland and Tyneside Centre recently celebrated its Golden Jubilee, which means it is one of the oldest Relate centres in the country. It is also one of the largest -- and most forward-thinking.

Where are we? Relate Northumberland and Tyneside is based at Mea House, in the centre of Newcastle, but we also offer counselling from our other bases throughout the region. See our Contact Us page for a full list, plus travel directions.

Last year Relate Northumberland and Tyneside gave more than 12,000 interviews to individuals and couples with problems in their relationships.
